My shoes are out of the box... literally!

"There's a little Imelda in all of us."
~ Imelda Romualdez Marcos in a 2009 print interview

Due to lack of outdoor activities during the long weekend, I was forced to do my part in household cleaning. I've lost count how many times my mother would tell me to sort out my shoes. Throw or give away some, things like that, blah-blah. I finally heeded my mother's plea this morning and I got the biggest surprise of my life!

Magic 27

After throwing out some damaged shoes (say, 4 hopeless pairs of shoes, meaning, beyond repair already) and lining up all my rescued shoes, it dawned upon me that I have a total of 27 pairs of shoes! Well, I think the oldest shoe was bought in 2005. I know I have bought  more pairs of shoes all the way from 2005 which unfortunately didn't survive that long or were given away to relatives in the province.

Wow, it was very, very nostalgic just staring at my old shoes again. I hope to write some details or memories behind every pair. That would be exciting and fun! :)

Shoe Haul: Charles & Keith and Pill Sandals

Apparently, BF is generous. I must have thought out loud one day that I badly need a new pair of sandals. After more than a year of working at the Makati CBD, I find wearing sandals more comfortable than wearing pumps or even ballet flats. With all the walking I do in the CBD due to strict implementation of traffic rules, I like my feet to breath and not enclosed.

Charles & Keith multi-colored sandals

This is my first ever pair of Charles & Keith, so please indulge me!

Done in the spirit of foot vanity

I wore it to the office the following day. Two days after, I wished I had another new pair of sandals. I love my Charles & Keith so much that I don't want my lovely pair to be overused. BF heard my wish. So off to The Ramp Glorietta I went. Voila! I found this comfy gray sandals which can be worn with corporate casual clothes.

Pill sandals

A big thanks to BF! Much love, Mommy.

First Saturday of August

After our breakfast at Salcedo Market, we mutually agreed that it was indeed a lazy Saturday. Anything goes, whatever feels right, you get the picture. A walk-a-thon followed, just trailing down the steps of the corporate jungle. It was very strange walking in the CBD without people clad in corporate clothes.

Sedeño Underpass on a Saturday, around 11 a.m. The Sedeño Underpass crosses Paseo de Roxas from Sedeño Street to Ayala Triangle.

Ayala Triangle Gardens

Lonely park on a Saturday morning

It's a Saturday indeed.

One of the giant pots along Ayala Avenue

And we found ourselves in SM Megamall. No traffic at all.

I took this pic thoughtlessly while BF tried on new pants at Onèsimus. It must be the nice treasure chest box.

Lunch at Reyes Barbecue: grilled asparagus & pork wrap (Php 40 per stick) and java rice (Php 20) for yours truly and grilled pusit meal (Php 135) for BF

New dessert find: Picolè healthy ice pops in avocado milky flavor (Php 35).

This healthy sweet treat reminds me of Arce Dairy avocado ice cream. Yum.

Legally Blonde: The Musical

OMIGOD! That's my bubble thought when I got hold of our precious tickets to Legally Blonde: The Musical. It was sorta difficult to choose prime seats on a weekend and, after an hour of exchanging SMS with contact persons for various play dates, I was able to grab two tickets (priced at Php 1,000 each - just to watch Elle!) for prime seats. Unexplainable excitement and giddy-like happiness!

Long before I found myself strutting in law school, Elle Woods was one of my fave heroines. Why not? She's one heck of a femme fatale. Then came law school where almost every single lass in the class wears or owns something pink. In my personal glossary, pink is synonymous to Elle Woods. I couldn't imagine my law school life without Elle Woods-y stuff. Hey, I am not talking about feather pens or heart-shaped notebooks. It's more than that. It's kinda shameful to admit but, yes, Elle Woods inspired me how to be confident and having a little faith in people and myself. I could go on rambling but I need to stop.

Our precious tickets

We're lucky to be seated in the first few rows of Meralco Theater last July 17, 8:00 p.m. show. Lots of familiar faces on TV and print were part of the audience, laughing carelessly and enjoying every minute of the musical.

Nikki Gil (Elle Woods) was indeed a revelation. The musical brought the best of her talents. I was very amused how she delivered her lines vis-a-vis Elle Woods' signature flair and wit. She knows her voice strengths as well. On the other hand, Nyoy Volante (Emmett Richmond) was good but we saw no chemistry between him and Nikki Gil. Oh, it must be the height difference.

Cris Villonco (Vivian Kensington)  fits the role to a  T as the serious and boring fiancee of Warner Huntington III (played by handsome Guji Lorenzana). Since I have watched the film version a lotsa times, I am perhaps decided that the actress who would play Vivian should also come out as serious and boring.

Geneva Cruz (Brooke Taylor Wyndham) was simply fabulous with her "Whipped Into Shape" number. She could do no wrong with those abs, I guess. Calvin Millado (UPS Guy) was very hilarious. My BF and I were laughing at him the whole time, and so did the entire theater. Whoever thought of getting him to play the role was so clever. His ill-fitting clothes and funny antics made his portrayal a whole lot funny. He was also funny in Avenue Q where he portayed the role of Brian, the comic fiance of Christmas Eve.

As expected, we came out of the theater with smiles on our faces. Although the film and the theater versions were both entertaining, I still want to grab the book authored by Amanda Brown who started it all!

Cleaning Out My Closet

For the sake of domestic peace, I finally cleaned out my closet. I don't want to burden Annabelle Rama anymore as she had enough by merely raising five (5)  big kids and one grade schooler.

While cleaning, I find it alarming that I'm scourging my closet of five (5) jeans. Reason? They don't fit me anymore. I've gained an inch or two or maybe three for  two years. Apparently my fitting problems stem from my slow metabolism. That's what happens when you're hitting 30. Darn.

So long farewell, my jeans!

I think it's high time to fret about my waistline. The pair of jeans on top was only a year old and it won't zip anymore. I had to struggle zipping the buttons over a two-inch gap called flabs. Oh my.

"Celine" Finds

I'm not sure exactly what I'm trying to post right now. Maybe it's my way of thanking the boyfriend of his post-holiday generosity or I'm directly amused (I noticed I'm fond of this word lately) of the two "Celine" purchases yesterday. Both reasons are intertwined, so I'll be honest. It's both.

Personally, I put a lot of (possibly undue) pressure on myself to look presentable at the very least in every occasion. It's easy to ask why. I'm the eldest child and people sometimes look at the first born as the yardstick of a family's measure of success. Success is susceptible of many interpretations so let's skip that topic for now, please.

So since I'm going to attend my first cousin's wedding which calls for a semi-formal attire, I have to look for some dress. Truth to tell, I only own a few decent semi-formal dresses. I noticed that wearing a dress requires an enormous amount of (real) pressure to shave my legs and sit so femininely.

Below are the "Celine(s)".

This is the first "Celine". It's a simple denim-like dress designed by Celine Lopez for Plains and Prints. It stuck to my mind because I always read her lifestyle column in The Philippine Star every Sunday. We bought this for only Php 350. Wide grin.

This is the second "Celine". It's really from Celine boutique at Glorietta 5. It's been a long time since I had a red footwear. Something new for 2010.

When I got home, I immediately tried the dress and the sandals. It was pure bliss, so much so that I even took pictures of them.

Random Cheap Finds for Nikki

I'm a firm believer that looking good does not mean one has to buy expensive clothes at the mall. My sister Nikki has been bugging me for new clothes. And what better way to fulfill a teenager's simple wish without digging deeper into my wallet? Go to Divisoria!

Aside from Greenhills and St. Francis Square, Divisoria is a cheap shopper's dream. It's where you can find random cheap finds without ruining your budget. All you need is a talent for haggling and keen eye for chic yet inexpensive clothes. Just wanna share the cheap treasures we found in the heart of Divisoria. My sister gamely posed for me. Hahaha!

Purple party dress with sequined top (P170) with fancy heart-shaped bronze necklace (P30)

Tri-colored party dress (P170) with fancy bronze necklace (P50)

Purple tee with silver lips print (P75) paired with checkered gray mini-shorts (P65)

Baby tees are pretty cheap in Divisoria, 2 for P150. Also, mini-shorts are 2 for P130. Amazing! I love simple, shallow things.

Gray-striped fitted dress (P170) with fancy bronze necklace (P50)

Fancy necklaces (P50 & P30 only)

Total cost for Nikki's clothes is only P730. Instant happiness!
